New Product Build
For adding or updating features within a current product ecosystem.
1. Understand the Requirement
Collaborate with stakeholders to gain full clarity on the problem and goals
2. Make your own PRD
Create a detailed PRD covering all the pointers
Or use ChatGPT or AI tools in this step
3. Review the PRD if given by stakeholders
Review it thoroughly, align with stakeholders to understand the complete problem and context.
4. Finalize Timelines
Once the PRD is accepted, estimate the time required for design, review and then share the final timeline to be included in the PRD.
5. Create a Task in ClickUp
Raise a task in ClickUp, our primary tool for managing & tracking progress. This can be done by the Product Manager, Project Manager, or the designer involved.
6. Research
Analyze competitors and evaluate our existing product to identify insights, gaps, and opportunities
7. Map User Journey & Personas
Define user personas and map their end-to-end journey to visualize key interactions and pain points
Or use NotebookLM or AI tools in this step
8. Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Create low-fidelity wireframes in figma or use AI tools to generate mid/high fidelity designs
Or use AI tools in this step
9. Review #1
Conduct a review with the Product Manager, Engineer, and Business stakeholders to ensure the design is technically feasible.
10. Update design
Update designs based on stakeholder feedback. You can either edit directly in Figma or prompt AI tools to refine the screens.
Or use AI tools in this step
11. Version history of edits
Maintain version history of edits for reference. Develop updated design versions based on feedback and requirements.
12. Review #2
Conduct a secondary review with the Manager, Engineer, Business stakeholders, and a peer designer to validate feasibility and design quality
13. Design System Validation
Ensure that the latest designs follow the established design system and visual guidelines.
14. Prototyping (wherever applicable)
Prototype only the primary or “happy” flow to visualize user interactions clearly.
15. Testing (wherever applicable)
Validate designs through user testing or coordinate with PM/UX team to conduct usability tests.
or you may use AI models to simulate user testing or analyze feedback.
16. Final Review (All Stakeholders + HOD)
With testing data in hand, connect with Aman for final sign-off and ensure approvals are properly documented.
17. Handoff Final Design to Developers
Once validated, hand off all design assets & specifications to the development team. Conclude with a message or email to stakeholders, including the final Figma link & completion note.
18. Product Development
Support the engineering team with any design-related queries during development. No new design changes should be made at this stage.
19. Testing
Once development is complete, conduct thorough testing to ensure at least a 95% match with the approved designs and final product. Your sign-off is mandatory before the feature goes live.
20. Feature Launch
After sign-off, the feature is pushed live. Add a reminder in your calendar to review post-launch performance data. You or the Project Manager can handle this check-in.
21. Publish Results
Share the performance outcomes and impact of the feature with your team and HOD. Highlight key learnings, improvements, and success metrics.
